The Town of Rutherfordton maintains four recreational parks, accommodating a broad range of activities. Nearest to this lovely Cape Cod home is Crestview Park, a 26-acre park boasting three Little League baseball fields and one senior league, lighted tennis courts and basketball courts, a 1/3-mile lighted walking trail and two playgrounds. There are bathrooms, water fountains and a picnic shelter with a grill as well.
Also nearby is Rutherfordton Golf Club. The course opened in 1929. Located at 191 Twitty Ford Rd Rutherfordton, NC (828-287-3406), it is a 9-hole regulation length Municipal golf course: 36 par | 2,787 yards | 118 slope | 33.1 rating | Bermuda grass. Their General Manager is Don Owens.
Within a five-mile drive, is Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club at Tryon Resort. It is PGA acclaimed, listed in Golf Digest in their “Best Places to Play” and considered one of the best courses in North Carolina. Their General Manager and Head Pro is Dave Long, a Class A PGA professional with over 25 years’ experience. He manages and operates the golf course, pro shop, and membership activities.
The Rutherfordton Clubhouse is the town’s community center. Built mid-1930, from trees cut on site, the clubhouse is available to rent and has been used by generations for everything from weddings and receptions to holiday parties, reunions, dances, and business luncheons. The Boy Scout Hut, on Toms Road, is also available to rent. It is a log building with central heat and air that seats up to 70, has a kitchen, fireplace, and 2 restrooms.
